Into the Woods
Into the Woods, a musical by Stephen Sondheim, mixes together several well-known fairy tales to tell an allegorical story about family, love, growing up, and the blurry line between right and wrong. This show, which was directed by Timothy Sheader and captured live by Digital Stage at London's Regent's Park Open Air theatre, was captured by Digital Theatre. Into the Woods takes the stories of the Brothers Grimm and gives them a dark and hilarious twist, making them suitable for the whole family. Interwoven among the tales of Red Ridinghood, Jack (of the Beanstalk renown), Cinderella, and Rapunzel is the story of a Baker and his wife who are trying to conceive a child. This retelling, on the other hand, goes beyond the traditional "happily ever after," as the familiar characters find themselves in unusual situations, and their aspirations and dreams are questioned and reconsidered.
