Charlie Fitzpatrick is Georgia's all-time winningest high school basketball coach. While many of his players regard him as a father, he has a rocky relationship with his own "bookworm" son, Evan. With the assistance of his wife, Laura, and Evan's wife, Heather, Charlie determines that the best way to reconnect and bond is to take his son and grandson, Markie, who has recently announced his intention to drop out of college to tour with his folk band, on a weekend retreat to a rustic mountain cabin. Only this cabin is the same location where he took his numerous winning teams to put their mettle to the test on a difficult military-style obstacle course, the same course Evan never had the opportunity to complete as a student.
