Fighting For The Motherland 1162
Wanyan Liang, the emperor of the Jurchen Jin Dynasty, prepared an invasion of the Southern Song Dynasty in 1161. Due to the strict recruitment policy and the Jin's brutality, it was difficult for the people of the Central Plain to survive. Xin Qiji, age 21, fought alongside villagers against the Jin army before joining a more influential volunteer army led by Geng Jing and racking up victory after victory. Xin Qiji traveled to the south in 1162 to convince the Song Emperor to remove the Jurchens from the north in order to expel invaders and reclaim lost territory in order to realize reunification. Upon completing his duty, Xin Qiji discovered that commander Geng Jing had been murdered by a traitor and that the soldiers had lost morale. Against Wanyan Basu's army of 50,000 warriors, what line of action would Xin Qiji and his 50 most trusted subordinates take?
