Everybody's Fine
This Chinese remake of Giuseppe Tornatore's (Cinema Paradiso) Everybody's Fine and its American counterpart starring Robert De Niro, directed by noted filmmaker Zhang Meng (The Piano in a Factory), is an emotionally moving drama. The plot follows a widower's visits to his four adult children, who live in four rapidly changing Chinese towns and lead quite different lives. It provides an up-close look at the problems of the younger generation in a society shifting from a collective past to a materialist present.
