Eight months after his wife died, Frank Goode is looking forward to seeing his four grown-up children again. When they all cancel their visits at the last minute, Frank goes against his doctor's advice and takes a road trip to see his kids. Frank goes to each of his children in turn and finds that their lives aren't quite as perfect as they've made them out to be.
