When Charlie the Tramp walks into a mission, he falls in love with Edna and puts back the collection box that he had taken. It turns out that the man has changed. He becomes a police officer and is sent to Easy Street, which is a rough and tumble place. To get Eric the Tough to give up, he puts Eric's head in a gas pipe and puts him to sleep. A hero, he now helps a lot of poor people who live on Easy Street. In this story, Eric gets out of jail, Edna is taken, but Charlie, who was recharged after sitting on a doper's needle, wins them all. Eric and Easy Street have changed, and so has Easy Street itself and Eric.
