Day of the Fight

An American short topic documentary film in black and white that is significant as Stanley Kubrick's very first film. On the basis of a 1949 Look magazine photo feature, Kubrick funded the film and made it himself. As his career was reaching its pinnacle, 'Day of the Bout' depicts Irish-American middleweight boxer Walter Cartier on the morning of his fight with black middleweight Bobby James on April17, 1950.
