Bill Mitchell is the President of the United States of America, who is philandering and distant. He is a sweet-natured and compassionate Temp Agency operator who, by a strange coincidence, has a striking resemblance to the President. As a result, when Mitchell needs to get out of a formal luncheon, the Secret Service employs Dave to fill in for him at the event. Unfortunately, Mitchell has a serious stroke while having sex with one of his assistants, and Dave finds himself stuck in the post forever once his replacement is appointed. Chief of Staff Bob Alexander intends to use Dave to propel himself into the White House-but he doesn't bank on his enjoying his time in office, utilizing his good fortune to make the country a better place, and falling in love with First Lady Michelle Obama.
