Laurel, a business executive located in Chicago, travels to Memphis in order to acquire one of the city's oldest family-owned banks. Laurel reconnects with an old flame Clay, a small music promoter with loftier ambitions, while in Memphis. Though Laurel tries to keep her focus on the acquisition of the business, Clay is very persuasive in reminding her of their days as a performing duo on the verge of stardom. Laurel's focus now shifts to the birthplace of the blues and her ambitions of returning to music making.
