The Emperor, played by Chang Chen, yearns for the nomadic lifestyle of a nomad and makes an attempt to flee the royal castle with his sister, the Princess (Faye Wong). The royal guards apprehend him and take him back to his furious mother, but the Princess, who is dressed as a man, is able to evade capture and make her getaway. During this time, King Bully, played by Tony Leung, has traveled back to his hometown, where he is reviled for his bullying habits, to open a restaurant with his sister Phoenix, who is more of a tomboy (Vicki Zhao). They share an extremely tight bond with one another. In point of fact, King Bully is under the impression that he is able to read his sister's thoughts. When the Princess arrives in town, King Bully realizes that he is attracted to her. However, because he believes that she is a male, he rationalizes that his attraction is due to some form of empathy with Phoenix.
