Berlin in the summer. Maria and Niels, two Berliners, and Chlo, a British student, are three twenty-somethings. They go headfirst into a careless and tumultuous love affair with each other while drifting libidinously across Berlin. They live life to the fullest, grabbing anything and anything that comes their way. Their sole compass seemed to be the joy they derive from being together, which is fine until Chlo unintentionally becomes pregnant. Now comes the insecurity, wrath, envy, and mistrust. Abortion is both planned and refused. Who, when, and over what is entitled to have a say? Their odd triad dissolves and their once-balanced relationship mutates into shifting constellations of two, until it seems possible to restore a shaky equilibrium. Is their ideal within grasp, or is this simply a brief respite? It takes a lot of effort to love in a different way. Maria, Niels, and Chlo have caught the world off guard. They aren't either.
