VINCEnzo Salemme plays the role of Gaetano, a police officer in Parma who is romantically involved with Betty (Asia Argento). This causes Gaetano to live above his means. He intends to marry her, but he wants to run away with the attractive commander Grandoni. It's also worth noting that the police officer has a former wife who requires food, as well as mortgage payments to be made, in addition. Gaetano, a man beset by debt and a heart condition, plays the same Superenalotto numbers over and over again until one day, his coupon combination transforms into gold tokens.
