Angel of Evil
VALLANZASCA is based on the true story of one of Italy's most notorious outlaws, and it is set in the 1970s. Renato Vallanzasca was a criminal by the time he was 9 years old, and by the time he was 27 he had become the country's most infamous mobster. Milan's underworld was taken over by Vallanzasca and his crew after a series of high-profile thefts, kidnappings, and killings occurred under their watch. The crowd was charmed, and he was given the moniker "il bel Renè" (the beautiful René) for his seductive persona. His spectacular prison escapes infuriated the authorities, inflamed his opponents, and fueled his fame after he was repeatedly arrested.
