Yosuke Kubozuka, an ex-boxer who is sad about the injuries that ended his career, finds a stray cat that cheers him up, but she is taken by a funny, dirty mechanic (Kenji Furuya). When they talk to each other, they call each other by the names they gave the cat, Maru and Lily. All of a sudden, Saeko (Yui Ichikawa) and her son are at the center of a political plot, and the strange pair is pulled into it. After seeing another case of the rich and powerful taking advantage of the weak, the two strays set out on the road to redemption, or at least to a peaceful life with a cat. (Fun fact: Yosuke Kubozuka and Kenji "KJ" Furuya, who were both in the movie Alley Cat, put out the single "Soul Ship" in 2017. Kubozuka sings in the band Dragon Ash as both Manji Line and Furuya.) -JAPAN CUTS: New Japanese Film Festival
