When it comes to working on a country music Christmas special featuring newbie Alexis, Vivienne Wake is a workaholic television producer who never allows her personal sentiments to get in the way of her job. While on the verge of accepting a position in Los Angeles, and with the return of Gavin Chase, her childhood sweetheart and manager to the special's headliner, the spirit of her recently departed mentor, Marilyn, pays her a surprise visit. Her mentor has warned her that her current route will lead to a bleak future, and he has enlisted the assistance of both the Spirit of Christmas Past and the Spirit of Christmas Present to assist her in getting back on course. Vivienne is forced to take control of her life as a result of the Spirits' time-jumping exploits.
