The Siberian city of Norilsk, located above the Arctic Circle, was founded in order to exploit the nickel and other metal reserves found in the area. Constructed under Stalin by Gulag inmates (who totaled over 650,000 between 1930 and 1950), the structure remains an open-air prison, imprisoned by the glacial terrain and saturated with sorrow and history to the present day.
