They learn that the game has a dark history and was banned from most countries a long time ago because of strange and unexplained deaths linked to the game. The goal is to get rid of the 13 Demons of the Apocalypse from the Realm of Darkhaven, which is where the game takes place. It's just an urban legend that they think is true and decide to play. They don't know that the 13 Demons are walking the Earth disguised as humans, but they are. Slowly, the game takes over them, making them believe they are "The Golden Paladins," and that they are on a holy mission to save the world. There have been a lot of local deaths caused by tree branches, baseball bats, and hammers that were used by attackers who were wearing body armor. The thin line between reality and fantasy is broken, and the horrifying realization that they are way out of their depth sinks in quickly and hard.
